In today's episode we speak to Dr. Rena P. Dixon (MPH, PhD), Director of Community Investment and Impact at Fact Forward, a nonprofit organization focused on adolescent reproductive and sexual health.

Dr. Dixon talks to us about the work at Fact Forward in educating young adults on reproductive health, community engagement, health equity, and the importance of translational research.

If you are interested in adolescent sexual health, don't miss the 25th anniversary of the Fact Forward Summer Institute this year in Charleston, South Carolina: https://www.factforward.org/education-and-training/conferences/summer-institute

What is Translational Science?

From NIH: Translation is the process of turning observations in the laboratory, clinic and community into interventions that improve the health of individuals and the public — from diagnostics and therapeutics to medical procedures and behavioral changes.

Translational science is the field that generates scientific and operational innovations that overcome longstanding challenges along the translational research pipeline. These include scientific, operational, financial and administrative innovations that transform the way that research is done, making it faster, more efficient, and more impactful.
